Pursuit - Men's 12.5 KM - E.ON IBU 2011 World Cup Biathlon #7
E.ON IBU 2011 World Cup Biathlon #7 @ Nordic Heritage Ski Center, Presque Isle, Maine. Starting times in the Pursuit are based on the finish times of the Sprint race. The field is limited to just 60 biathletes who normally start in less than five minutes. The first place competitor from the Sprint race starts first, followed by the remaining field starting based on their rank order of their time. Each biathlete shoots twice from the prone position, and twice from the standing position. For each miss, the biathlete must ski a 150 meter penalty loop – often looking over their shoulder to see how many athletes are passing them. This competition is filled with duels on the range, and tactics on the course, and photo finishes at the line.
